Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Copilot is the assistant Microsoft surfaces on the web, Windows and phones, and—more importantly for many professionals—inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook when licensing allows. People already standardized on Microsoft 365 use it to draft documents, summarize threads and explore spreadsheet questions without switching to a separate AI chat site. Consumer Copilot remains available as a free app experience, while Microsoft 365 Personal, Family and business SKUs layer Copilot features into the desktop apps organizations already deploy. Exact packaging shifts as Microsoft renames consumer bundles, so buyers should confirm which SKU includes the in-app Copilot they need. Limitation: free Copilot chat is not the same as full Copilot-in-Word/Excel for every account, and company tenants depend on admin enablement. Treat spreadsheet formulas and legal wording as drafts until a human verifies them.
Key features

- Drafting and analysis help in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Free Copilot app plus Copilot features via Microsoft 365 plans
Limitations
Deep Office integration usually needs a qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription; free Copilot chat alone may not match in-app capabilities.
